The Dutch Gambling Authority, known as the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has firmly stated that the autoplay feature will not be permitted within its jurisdiction.
Autoplay allows players to place bets automatically without any manual input. However, the KSA has stringent regulations regarding this feature due to its association with gambling addiction, leading to a complete ban on autoplay in the Netherlands.
This crackdown follows a reported incident in which an online roulette table at an undisclosed venue was found to be using the autoplay feature. The KSA acted upon receiving notice that autoplay had not been removed from the table.
Importantly, in addition to notifying the specific venue, the KSA has also sent warnings to all operators within its jurisdiction to emphasize that autoplay is prohibited.
The authority has demanded that the casino operator remediate the violation and ensure that autoplay will not be utilized again. Additionally, the roulette game in question will undergo an inspection before it can be made available to players, to confirm that the autoplay feature has been fully removed.
This development comes shortly after a KSA report revealed 13 instances of potential match-fixing in the Netherlands for 2024, nearly double that of the previous year.
