Manchester City weren’t at their best, but once again, Erling Haaland made the difference. The Norwegian forward scored early in the first half, shrugging off defenders before slotting home what proved to be the only goal of the game.
City controlled possession, as usual, but Brentford made them work hard for it. The home side pushed late on and came close through Wissa, only for Ederson to pull off a crucial save.
The concern, though, is Rodri’s injury, which could keep him out for a few weeks. Brentford will take heart from their fight, but they’ll be frustrated they couldn’t turn pressure into points.
It was a lively afternoon at Goodison Park as Everton came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2–1. Palace looked in control early, with Eberechi Eze scoring a classy opener, but Sean Dyche’s side showed real character to turn things around.
The turning point came after the break when substitute Iliman Ndiaye coolly scored from the penalty spot. With the home crowd urging them on, Everton pushed for a winner and got it late, a scrappy goal that Beto bundled over the line after chaos in the box.
It was the kind of gritty, emotional win Dyche loves and one that could lift Everton’s confidence heading into a tough run of fixtures. For Palace, it’s a reminder that even a solid start can come undone if you switch off for a moment.
The title picture shifted again this weekend. Arsenal moved top of the table after a calm and controlled 2–0 win over West Ham. Bukayo Saka opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Declan Rice curled in a beautiful second against his old club, a moment that summed up Arsenal’s growing maturity.
Over in London, Chelsea shocked Liverpool with a dramatic 2–1 win at Stamford Bridge. After Darwin Núñez had equalised, 17-year-old Estevão Willian scored in stoppage time to seal the victory, and possibly announce himself as one of the season’s breakout stars.
The results leave Arsenal leading the way, with City close behind and Liverpool needing to regroup fast. Chelsea, meanwhile, are quietly finding their rhythm under Enzo Maresca, showing flashes of the old swagger that fans have been missing.

Next weekend could bring even more twists:
