Louisiana’s sports betting landscape flourished in February, with a total handle of $381.2 million, marking a remarkable 39% increase compared to $274.8 million in February 2024.
Mobile betting dominated the market, generating $355.7 million—an impressive 41% rise—while retail betting contributed $25.5 million, an 18% increase.
In terms of financial performance, net proceeds from sports betting skyrocketed by 90% year-over-year, totaling $47.6 million. Of this, $45.1 million originated from mobile betting, with retail betting accounting for $2.5 million. Parlay bets led the pack, producing net proceeds of $31.1 million, although mobile betting on American football recorded a slight loss of $1.2 million. The total net proceeds provided the state with $7 million in tax revenue from betting, a significant 87% increase from February 2024.
In addition, the fantasy sports sector reported a 42% surge in revenue, reaching $1 million, while net revenue climbed by 38% year-over-year to $126,731.
Adding to the state’s gaming landscape, The Cordish Companies launched Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana on February 13. This new land-based casino in Shreveport-Bossier boasts 47,000 square feet of gaming space, featuring over 1,000 slots and electronic table games, 40 live table games, and a DraftKings Sportsbook. The facility also includes a hotel, pool, fitness center, and a 25,000-square-foot multi-purpose event center, alongside various dining and entertainment options.
Overall, February was a robust month for sports betting in Louisiana, highlighting the state’s growing popularity in the gaming industry.
