Kenya’s gaming sector is making efforts to promote responsible gambling amidst criticism, misinformation, and heightened public scrutiny. The Association of Gaming Operators – Kenya (AGOK) has announced measures to protect players and address public concerns over gambling’s social impact.
AGOK has introduced new tools to promote responsible gaming. These include deposit and betting limits, timeout options, and real-time alerts to create a safer gaming environment. Additionally, players will access self-exclusion features and 24/7 toll-free helplines for mental health support and addiction recovery.

“These tools are designed to help players manage their gaming habits in a healthy and controlled way,” AGOK emphasized. The association remains committed to prioritizing fairness, player protection, and social responsibility within Kenya’s gaming industry.
Recent reports claimed Kenyans spent Ksh 766 billion (£4.4 billion) on gambling in 2024. The BCLB dismissed these figures, arguing they include offshore activity and fail to reflect the regulated market. Board Chair Dr. Makau warned that inflated numbers risk misleading policymakers and the public, highlighting the need for accurate data.
